Copy Editing & Proofreading

A copy edit and proofread is your last line of defence before publishing your manuscript. You’ve already done the hard work and this level of editing is strictly a clean-up, making sure that nothing has fallen through the cracks in the process of drafting and redrafting over multiple iterations. This service is most appropriate for writers who are pursuing indie publishing. Not sure if this service is right for you? Book a no-obligation discovery call to discuss your options.

What to expect.

Your Edit

Our copy editing and proofreading service gives you access to two editors to ensure a fresh pair of eyes to protect against stubborn typos. This edit focuses solely on spelling, grammar and punctuation.

You will receive:

  • A fully marked-up copy of your manuscript using Track Changes in Microsoft Word, with in-line edits addressing any typos, missing words, incorrect homophones, grammatical errors or incorrect punctuation

  • A round of proofreading will be conducted with a second editor for your peace of mind, upon receiving your approval of the copy edit

Scope

Your final quote includes one round of copy editing and one round of proofreading, sent as a marked-up Microsoft Word document. You will be asked to review and sign off on your copy edit before your proofread commences.

If you would like to request an additional edit or consultation on subsequent drafts of your manuscript, we offer a 10% discount on quotes for repeat clients for the same work.

Timeline

Line edits are delivered between 4-6 weeks from the starting date outlined in your project agreement. If you require a faster turnaround, this may be possible for an additional fee.

Investment

This service is charged at a rate of 2 cents per word and can only be conducted on the submission of a full manuscript. Quotes are subject to GST for Australian clients.

Clients who wish to proceed with an additional service will receive a 10% discount on that service for the same manuscript.
